There's some weirdness going on with the packaging of ZuZu Luxe's Liquid Eyeliner. Let's see if we can clear this up!
I purchased mine in a natural foods store. The black bottle was packaged in a silver box, which was marked "2 mL." While writing my review, I looked around online and saw that both the parent company's, Gabriel Cosmetics, website and many other online retailers showed a 3 mL silver bottle for the same price. I then emailed Gabriel Cosmetics to clear this up, asking whether the 2 mL black or the 3 mL silver was the newer version. The response (shown below) was extremely timely and courteous. They even included a coupon code!
The current ZZL liquid eyeliner is in a black component. We switched designs about three months ago. We need to update our website with new image! Please let us know if we can answer any other questions.
Best of Health,
Since they didn't address the size of the bottle, I assumed that the new product was smaller for the same price. That was kind of a bummer, but I understand that decisions like that need to be made sometimes, and I wouldn't have even been aware of this one had I not checked online. I was still very impressed with the product and the customer service (and that the response came from the CEO himself!), so overall I was happy.
I then noticed that most online outlets were still selling the silver 3mL version, so I thought it might be wise to stock up on the bigger product. I chose White Rabbit Beauty, whom I had ordered from previously and had a great experience with (plus they ship makeup for free!), and emailed them to verify that I would be receiving the 3 mL version if I placed an order. Their response cleared a lot of things up (emphasis added by me):
The quantity of eye liner and the formula are the same in both bottles. When the black ones first arrived, I weighed them and compared them with the silver ones, and the weight is identical. The folks at Gabriel (who makes ZuZu) also confirmed that the fluid ounces of eyeliner in each bottle are identical. I think the confusion has resulted because the actual amount posted at the Gabriel site is 3 ml, but the box (for both bottle colors) says 2 ml. Nothing has changed but the bottle color, though. We have some of each color at White Rabbit, because they are transitioning over. Currently, the Luxor is in the silver bottles and the others are in the black bottles.
I hope this helps!
PS Your note prompted me to post a note explaining this on the site. Thank you! :-)
Here is the relevant part of the note posted on the site (emphasis added):
The packaging is transitioning from a silver bottle to a black bottle, but the formula and the amount have not changed. The box for both silver and black packaging says 2 ml, but that is a typo, and the actual amount is 3 ml.
So there you go! I hope that cleared up some confusion.
